Help topics

1. Quick start

To set up DinoLock for the first time:

  1. Choose parent or student mode and complete the learning setup.
  2. Sign in with Apple or Google so your profile and question bank can synchronize.
  3. Allow Screen Time access when iOS asks.
  4. Select the apps or categories you want DinoLock to shield.
  5. Choose question difficulty, reward time, daily goals, and schedule preferences.
  6. Create or choose a question set, then answer questions to earn access time.

Screen Time features require a supported iPhone and iOS 17 or later. Some features also require an internet connection.

2. Account and sign in

Sign in with Apple

Select Continue with Apple and complete Apple’s confirmation. If you use Hide My Email, DinoLock receives a private relay email address. Keep access to the same Apple account so DinoLock can recognize your account later.

Sign in with Google

Select Continue with Google, choose the correct Google account, and approve the sign in request. DinoLock never receives your Google password.

If sign in does not finish

If you cannot access the original provider

Apple and Google control their own account recovery. Complete recovery with that provider first. Support cannot see or reset your Apple or Google password.

3. Parent and student modes

Parent mode

Parent mode is intended for an adult configuring DinoLock for a child. It may include child focused setup, grade selection, simple math or English challenges, reward rules, and device limits. The parent remains responsible for reviewing questions and supervising the device.

Student mode

Student mode is designed for a learner managing focus and study goals. Students can create subject question sets and use selected source material to build practice questions.

Changing settings

Open Profile to review available learning, reward, schedule, and appearance settings. Some onboarding choices may require a fresh setup if they are not editable in the current App version.

4. Screen Time permission

DinoLock needs Apple Screen Time authorization to shield selected apps. The permission prompt comes from iOS and cannot be bypassed by DinoLock.

Grant permission

  1. Open DinoLock and go to the app selection or protection setup.
  2. Select the option to allow Screen Time access.
  3. Approve the Apple system prompt.
  4. Return to DinoLock and select the apps or categories you want to manage.

If permission was denied

Open iOS Settings and review Screen Time or Family Controls access for DinoLock, then return to DinoLock and try again. On a child’s device, a parent or family organizer may need to approve the change.

If permission disappears

Authorization can change after an iOS update, device restore, reinstall, family configuration change, or Screen Time reset. Grant access again and review your app selection.

5. Choosing apps and categories

Open DinoLock’s protection setup, then choose individual apps or whole categories from Apple’s selector. Save the selection and make sure Dino Protection is enabled.

Why selected app names may not appear

Apple represents selections with privacy preserving tokens. DinoLock can use the tokens to apply a shield, but Apple may not provide a normal readable list of app names to DinoLock.

Changing your selection

Return to the selector, add or remove apps, then save again. If a newly installed app is not included in an existing category selection, reopen the selector and confirm the category.

Apps you should keep available

Do not shield apps that you may need for emergencies, travel, authentication, health, safety, school access, or essential communication unless you have a reliable alternative.

6. An app is not shielding or unlocking correctly

Check the protection state

Open DinoLock and confirm Dino Protection is enabled, the correct apps are selected, and the current time is inside your configured schedule.

Check earned access

If you recently answered questions correctly, the app may be intentionally available while earned time remains. DinoLock should shield it again when the granted usage time is used.

Refresh Screen Time authorization

If the state looks wrong, reopen DinoLock, review Screen Time permission, and save the app selection again. Restarting the iPhone can also refresh Apple’s Screen Time extensions.

After an iOS update or reinstall

You may need to authorize Screen Time again and rebuild your selection. Reinstalling can remove local shield configuration even when your cloud account still exists.

Important limitation

DinoLock is a focus aid and cannot guarantee that every shield will always start or end at the exact expected moment. Do not use it as the only control for a safety critical restriction.

7. Questions and learning challenges

Starting a challenge

Choose an available subject or question set from Home. DinoLock presents questions and records your selected answers. Correct answers can add access time according to the reward setting.

Built in questions

Some modes provide math or language questions without an uploaded source. Difficulty and question type may depend on your setup.

Subject questions

Subject challenges use your saved question bank. If there are no ready or unused questions for that subject, create a new set or add more questions.

Incorrect answers

DinoLock may show the correct answer and an explanation. A failed challenge can activate the configured lock period. You can change the default lock setting in Profile when that option is available.

Question accuracy

Review important questions and explanations. Built in, imported, and AI generated content can contain errors and should not replace an official answer key or teacher review.

8. Question bank

What is stored

A question set can include its title, subject, source, question type, difficulty, reward value, questions, answer choices, correct answers, explanations, solved state, and progress.

Saving and synchronization

When you are signed in, DinoLock saves question sets to your cloud account and may keep an offline cache on the device. Allow time for synchronization after changing networks or signing in on another device.

Edit or delete a set

Open the question set from the question bank and use the available edit or delete control. Deleting a set removes it from your DinoLock cloud question bank and cannot normally be undone.

Questions appear used

DinoLock records solved and answer status to avoid repeating the same fresh questions too quickly. Create another set or add new questions when the available pool is finished.

9. Creating questions with AI

From a topic

Enter a clear topic and describe what the questions should cover. Include the subject, learner level, desired difficulty, and any facts DinoLock must use.

From a photo or camera

Use bright, even lighting. Keep the page straight, include the full text, avoid shadows, and make sure small print is readable before sending the image.

From a document

Select a clear PDF or supported text source. Use one focused document of 10 MB or less. A shorter, well structured source usually produces better questions than a large mixed document.

Extracting existing questions

If the source already contains questions, say that you want them extracted. Include the answer key when available. DinoLock may still need to infer answers when the source has no key, so review every result.

Review before saving

Check the wording, choices, correct answer, and explanation. Remove questions that are repeated, unclear, unsupported by the source, or unsuitable for the learner.

Protect private information

Do not upload passwords, identity documents, medical records, confidential school files, or personal information that is not needed. Source material is sent to Google AI services to complete the request.

10. AI generation fails or looks wrong

If the request does not start

If the result is incomplete

Reduce the source to one chapter or topic, request fewer concepts at once, and provide a more specific instruction. Large or scanned documents may need clearer images or selectable text.

If the answer is incorrect

Do not use the result as is. Compare it with the source, correct or remove the question, and try again with an explicit answer key or clearer context. AI output is not guaranteed to be accurate.

If the same failure continues

Email support with the source type, approximate file size, the step that fails, and a screenshot of the error. Do not attach confidential source material unless support specifically requests it and you are authorized to share it.

11. Rewards and earned access time

How time is earned

Each correct answer can grant the number of minutes selected in your reward settings. Daily earn limits and challenge rules may restrict the total amount.

How time is used

Earned access applies to the apps managed by DinoLock and is measured through Apple Screen Time behavior. The displayed balance may update when DinoLock receives activity information from iOS.

If the balance looks wrong

Open DinoLock and allow a moment for the state to refresh. Confirm the challenge was completed, the answer was recorded as correct, and the daily limit was not reached. Restart the App if the display has not updated.

No cash value

Reward minutes are only a DinoLock feature. They cannot be purchased from another user, transferred, redeemed for money, or used on another service.

12. Daily limits and sleep schedule

Profile settings may let you choose a daily app limit, daily question goal, daily earn limit, lock period after a failed challenge, and a sleep schedule.

Schedule crosses midnight

DinoLock treats the configured start and end times as a repeating device schedule. Review both times carefully when the sleep period continues into the next day.

Time zone or clock changes

Travel, manual clock changes, daylight saving time, and iOS updates can affect scheduled behavior. Open DinoLock after a time zone change and verify the schedule.

13. Notifications

DinoLock may request permission for alerts, sounds, and badges. Notifications can support reminders and status information, but they are optional.

Turn notifications on or off

Open iOS Settings, choose Notifications, choose DinoLock, then change the available options. You can also review reminder choices inside DinoLock.

Notifications are missing

Check that notifications are allowed, Focus mode is not silencing them, Scheduled Summary is not delaying them, and the device time is correct. iOS controls final delivery, so DinoLock cannot guarantee the exact arrival time.

14. Subscription plans and premium access

Available plans, local prices, billing periods, trials, and included features appear in DinoLock and Apple’s purchase sheet. Apple processes the payment. RevenueCat helps DinoLock confirm the active entitlement.

A purchase completes but premium stays locked

Keep DinoLock open for a moment, confirm the device is online, then use Restore Purchases. Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the Apple account used for the purchase.

A plan or price is different

Apple displays prices based on storefront, taxes, currency, eligibility, and current offers. The price in Apple’s confirmation sheet is the price that applies before you approve payment.

15. Restore purchases

  1. Open DinoLock’s subscription screen.
  2. Select Restore Purchases.
  3. Confirm that the device uses the Apple account that made the original purchase.
  4. Wait for Apple and RevenueCat to refresh the entitlement.

Restoring does not create a new charge. Reinstalling DinoLock does not cancel an active subscription, but you may need to restore access after reinstalling.

If no active plan is found, check Apple Subscriptions to confirm the plan is active and belongs to the current Apple account.

16. Cancel or manage a subscription

  1. Open iOS Settings.
  2. Select your Apple Account name.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Select DinoLock.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription or choose another available plan.

Apple controls renewal and cancellation. Removing DinoLock from the device or deleting your DinoLock account does not cancel the subscription. After cancellation, premium access normally remains available until the end of the already paid period.

17. Refunds and billing questions

Apple handles App Store charges and decides refund requests. Visit Apple Report a Problem, sign in, choose the DinoLock purchase, and follow Apple’s instructions.

For an unknown charge, compare the transaction with Apple Purchase History and subscriptions used by family members. Support can explain DinoLock plans but cannot view a complete payment card or directly return an App Store payment.

18. Sync, missing questions, or profile changes

Confirm the account

Make sure you signed in with the same Apple or Google account used when the content was created. Choosing a different provider can create a separate DinoLock account.

Refresh the connection

Open DinoLock on a stable network and wait for the profile and question bank to load. Close and reopen the App if a recent change is not visible.

Offline changes

Firebase may cache data while offline and synchronize later. Avoid deleting or editing the same question set on multiple devices before both have connected.

After account deletion

Deleted cloud profile and question bank data cannot normally be restored. Signing in again may create a new empty account.

19. Privacy and permissions

Screen Time data

Apple provides privacy preserving tokens for selected apps. DinoLock stores the selection and access state locally and does not upload raw browsing history or a detailed app usage history to its servers.

Camera, photos, and files

DinoLock accesses a photo or document only when you choose it for question creation. The selected material is sent to Google AI services for that request.

Account and question bank

Firebase stores the signed in profile, synchronized settings, and question sets. Read the full Privacy Policy for data categories, providers, retention, and your rights.

Change permissions

Open iOS Settings, choose DinoLock, and review available permissions. Screen Time controls may appear in a separate Screen Time or Family Controls area. Turning off a permission disables the related feature.

20. Delete your DinoLock account

  1. Open DinoLock and go to Profile.
  2. Select Delete account.
  3. Confirm that you understand the deletion is permanent.
  4. Complete Apple or Google sign in verification if requested.
  5. Wait for DinoLock to remove the cloud profile, question sets, and authentication account.

Deletion removes the cloud account data managed by DinoLock. Isolated backups and security records may remain temporarily where needed for system protection or legal compliance.

Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it separately in Apple Subscriptions. Local Screen Time configuration or other device data may remain until you reset the settings or delete DinoLock and its data.

If deletion fails, confirm the internet connection and complete the provider verification again. You can also email pixo.helpdesk@gmail.com from the address connected to the account.

21. General troubleshooting checklist

  1. Confirm the iPhone is using iOS 17 or later.
  2. Update DinoLock from the App Store.
  3. Check Wi Fi or cellular internet access.
  4. Close and reopen DinoLock.
  5. Restart the iPhone.
  6. Review Screen Time, notification, camera, photo, and file permissions.
  7. Confirm you are signed in with the correct Apple or Google account.
  8. Try Restore Purchases if premium access is missing.
  9. Wait a few minutes and retry if Firebase, Google AI, Apple, or RevenueCat is temporarily unavailable.

Before reinstalling, remember that local Screen Time configuration may be removed. Confirm your question bank has synchronized to the correct account first.
